The Compass Level 1 Award Health & Safety in a Construction Environment qualification is aimed at those looking to gain their Green CSCS Card. The benefit of taking this qualification instead of the CITB one day course is that you won’t need to re-take this course when your CSCS card expires. You will only need to take your CSCS test to renew your card.
The qualification is delivered online and at our venues in Chorley and London. How does it work?
When you enrol, you are provided with a logon to our online platform, MyQual. This guides you through:
- Your introduction to your qualification
- Some videos to watch with online quizes to check your knowledge
When you have completed these you call or email to book onto the half day session in Chorley or London, or you can pay the additional £25 for a 1-1 Zoom session.
Candidate need to be at least 16 years old. There are no other formal entry requirements although you do need to be in a role carrying out this work so you can be assessed. If you are new to the role you will still be able to enrol onto the qualification although it may talk you longer to complete it.

How does the process work?

- Some videos and reading material followed by questions to test yoour knowledge
- Online multiple choice exam
How easy is MyQual to use?
MyQual has been designed to guide you easily step by step through the process. We have a dedicated Customer Service team in case you run into any difficulties who can talk you through how it works. There are also some helpful videos along the way to give you some hints and tips.
What if English is not my first language?
The qualification is completed and assessed in English although we will make every effort to accommodate any special requirements you have.
Are there any additional costs?
No. All registration fees and vat is included in the price. You can pay an optional £25 to book a 1-1 Zoom session if you are unable to attend the sessions in Chorley or London.
How do I apply for my CSCS Card when I have completed my NVQ?

I have dyslexia, is there any support available?
Yes – your Tutor will support you to enable you to complete this qualification.
How long will it take to complete?
This depends on each individual. Most people complete it within 1 day, but you have up to one year to compete your qualification.
Who issues my certificate?
This qualification is certificated by NOCN who will issue your certificate when you complete.
How long will I need to wait for my certificate?
The certificates are sent from NOCN and can take up to 10 working days. We will email you an electronic copy of the certificate as soon as we receive it and send the hard copy in the post.
