Can be completed in as little as eight weeks.  The Compass NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management – Building & Civil Engineering qualification is aimed at experienced Construction Site Managers looking for assessment of their existing skills and knowledge for them to apply for their Black CSCS Card.  There is no time needed in the classroom or away from site.

 

What is included and what should I expect?

When you enrol on your NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management qualification with Compass, you are provided with:

  • Your induction and introduction to your qualification
  • Some reading material followed by questions you need to answer
  • An easy to follow list of documents, reports and photographs you need to upload
  • What to expect when your Assessor comes to visit you on site

Your Assessor gets in touch within 7-10 days of your enrolment and will then give you feedback on how you’re doing each step of the way, until your completion.

There are 19 mandatory units in the NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management Diploma, plus one optional unit  – we give you a plan on how to easily meet the requirements of these units and map your evidence against them for you.  The units include:

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships.
  • Allocating work and checking people’s performance in the workplace.
  • Contributing to the identification of work teams in the workplace.
  • Establishing, implementing and maintaining systems for managing health, safety, welfare and wellbeing in the workplace.
  • Establishing, controlling and monitoring environmental factors and sustainability in the workplace.
  • Evaluating and confirming work methods to meet project or operational requirements in the workplace.
  • Planning the preparation of the site for the project.
  • Monitoring project activities in the workplace.
  • Ensuring that work activities and resources meet project work requirements in the workplace.
  • Identifying, allocating and planning the deployment and use of plant, equipment or machinery in the workplace.
  • Organising, controlling and monitoring supplies of materials in the workplace.
  • Identifying and maintaining communication systems and organisational procedures in the workplace.
  • Controlling project progress against agreed quality standards in the workplace.
  • Establishing dimensional control criteria in the workplace.
  • Controlling project progress against agreed programmes in the workplace.
  • Controlling project quantities and costs in the workplace.
  • Evaluating feedback information and recommending improvements in the workplace.
  • Managing your personal development.
  • Managing the installation, maintenance, monitoring and removal of temporary works.
Entry Requirements

To enrol onto this course you must:

  • Be aged over 19 years old.
  • Currently be in a construction site management role, or a role with site management duties for the Principal Contractor.
  • Working on a construction site in mainland England.

Is there any prior knowledge or training I need before I do this qualification?

No. There are no entry requirements although you do need to be in a site management role so you can be assessed.  If you are new to site management you will still be able to enrol onto the qualification although it may talk you longer to complete it as you pull the evidence together.

How does the process work?

When you enrol, you are provided with a logon to our online platform. This guides you through:

  • Your induction and introduction to your qualification
  • Some reading material followed by questions you need to answer
  • What documents you need to upload
  • Your site visit requirements
  • Your Assessor gets in touch within 7-10 days of your enrolment and will then give you feedback on how you’re doing each step of the way, until your completion.
How to I submit my work?

Your portfolio is managed on our online Learning Platform.  We have a dedicated Customer Service team in case you run into any difficulties who can talk you through how it works. There are also some helpful videos along the way to give you some hints and tips.

What if English is not my first language?

The qualification is completed and assessed in English although we will make every effort to accommodate any special requirements you have.

Are there any additional costs?

All registration fees, travel expenses and vat is included in the price.  You have access to the online portfolio system for 20 months.  If you have not completed by this time you will need to pay an additional £25/month for continued access.

How do I apply for my CSCS Card when I have completed my NVQ?

I have dyslexia, is there any support available?

Yes – your Assessor will support you to enable you to complete this qualification.

How long will it take to complete?

This depends on each individual.  The average completion for a Level 6 is 3-6 months.  You are supported by your Assessor for twenty months after which you will be dormant on our system. 

Can I get help with the cost of the course?

If you or your employer pays CITB levy, then you will be able to claim back a grant from CITB towards the cost of the course.  See CITB for what grants eligible employers can claim upon completion.

Who issues my certificate?

This qualification is certificated by NOCN who will issue your certificate when you complete.

How long will I need to wait for my certificate?

The certificates are sent from NOCN and can take up to 10 working days. We will email you an electronic copy of the certificate as soon as we receive it and send the hard copy in the post.
